We’ve just received a copy of the newly released Breaking with the Law, by Ward Clapham. The book is well written and visually appealing. It details how Clapham launched Positive Tickets in Richmond, BC, provides evidence of the program’s impact, and specific suggestions for how you can organize a similar effort in your community. The first of our Simple Stories of Extraordinary Impact series is now available for sale! Maria’s Story can be found in the shopping cart on this website. The DVD contains two compelling stories experienced and told by Flora Sanchez from Albuquerque, NM. It also contains three Special Features, including: Discussion Prompts to accompany the stories of the video; Maria’s Song, as performed by Ken Medema; and 50 Ways to Show Kids You Care, a series of asset-building ideas set to orginal music.

First DVD Project a Step Closer to Reality!

On September 22, we completed filming on our first DVD project, tentatively entitled “Maria’s Stories.” Based on compelling actual events, the stories document exchanges between the same individuals some 14 years apart. Narrated by Flora Sanchez, one of our Search Institute training team members, the stories will leave you with an enhanced understanding of “the power of one!”

7/21/09 Vision Training Associates announced plans to initiate two video series. The first will showcase asset-building stories accumulated by our speakers/trainers. These powerful stories will be essential additions to the libraries of all who are engaged in positive youth development. The second series will provide in-depth looks into programs and initiatives across North America who are weaving asset building deeply into the fiber of their organizations and/or communities. Filming begins September 22 and the first DVD will be available by November.

VTA holds annual Search Institute Trainer Retreat

We are conducting our annual Trainer Retreat with members of Search Institute’s North American Training Team in Farmington, MN from now through July 1. Dr. Peter Benson addressed the group today, casting a compelling vision for our work in the coming year.
